Moon Sugar Decals Review: Valentines Day Mani

Hello and Welcome!

Around the month of December I was contacted by Moon Sugar Decals to review their products. At the time I had never heard of them, they were a fairly new company. I was going through tough times because our grandpa passed away but later on I reached out to them gratefully agreeing to try out their decals. I got to choose which design I wanted try and the decals arrived very fast. The sheet of decals I chose was the Valentines Day decals. It only made sense to chose them with Valentines Day being so close. Moon Sugar Decals has free shipping and 120+ designs to choose from. I also have a special discount for my readers. Yay!!! I will have the code at the end of my post. Lets take a look below..
In my package I received my decals and a How To post card on how to apply the decals. The directions are extremely simple. This is what the card says.............
  1. Cut the decal to fit the nail(s). They can be used on natural or artificial nails. For natural nails, apply a base coat first. For acrylic nails, a base coat is not necessary.
  2. Place your decal in a bowl of warm water. It will curl up and then straighten out again. Once they are laying flat again, they are ready to slide off of the paper backing and onto your nail.NOTE:THESE ARE PRINTED ON A CLEAR FILM SO THERE IS NO WHITE INK. For best results apply to a white or light colored nail.
  3. Place the decal straight onto the nail in desired position.
  4. Dab dry with a tissue & finish with a layer or clear acrylic or top coat to seal.
Now I applied my decals a tad differently. What I did first was used 3 colors by SinfulColors and did the saran wrap technique. As for the decals I cut them to the shape I wanted them to be. Then put the decal in warm water in a bowl. Next I slid the decal off of the paper and dabbed it dry with a paper towel. The decals are in no way sticky so feel free to dry the access water off. Then I laid my decal to the side and applied a top coat to my nails. While my top coat was wet I carefully placed the decal onto my nails pushing it down gently, then I applied top coat over it.I did notice that some of the edges on the decals did stick up from the nail, even with top coat applied over it. What I did to solve that small issue was get acetone on the end of a nail art brush and tap the edge down. What the acetone does is pretty much melts the edges of the decal.Use the acetone with caution!!!!!! The acetone can damage your decal.Try to keep the acetone away from the actual image or else.

I did enjoy the Moon Sugar Decals and must admit I still need some practice. I usually make my own decals which is fun too.I had a lot of fun experimenting with these decals. I had a great experience and love how there is so many designs to choose from.

Here's a discount code good for 20% off through the end of February 2014.

Black Label Nails/Review & Swatches

Hello and Welcome!!!!

I'm going to take a moment and say..."OMG it's cold out there"!! I took my kids to schools and they tried to open the truck door to get out so they can go into the school and the door was frozen shut. LOL It took 2 teachers to get the door open. I hope everyone is keeping warm today. Anyway lets talk polish. Today I have a new brand to show you. It's is called "Black Label Nails". Jennifer from black label nails sent me 3 of her creations to try out. You should see her full size bottles, they are really unique but so cool looking. I don't have photos of her full size bottle but you can stop by her Instagram and Facebook to check them out. I will be posting all of her information at the end of my review. Here is what I know...., She opened her shop on January 18th, 2014......,She only ships to the United States and her full size polishes are 15 ml and the minis are 5 ml. Now lets check out some photos below!
"Paradise City"
This is a beautiful pink polish that has a blue shift. This polish is named after the song from Guns N' Roses. I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!! I applied 4 light coats with no undies and top coat. This is meant to be a topper so if you prefer to wear it as a topper I recommend layering over a light pink. I just love it on its own. This polish has a smooth formula that applied perfectly. If you are not familiar with Guns N' Roses there will be a video at the end of the review.

"Lithium"
This is a grey/silver polish meaning "Lithium". This polish is named after a Nirvana song. Another flipping amazing song. I grew up on this music. My dad would blast his radio so loud you could hear it around the block. It just brings back the good ol memories. I applied 3 light coats with top coat. It was a bit streaky but it is such a cool color. The video will be posted on my review also. Yay!!

"Closer to the Heart"
This is a clear base glitter topper with white hexes and pink and red hearts. This polish is named after  the band "RUSH". I applied 2 coats over 3 coats of Lithium with a top coat. I did not have to fish for any glitter. I was very easy to apply. There also will be a video for you to listen to if you are not familiar with RUSH below.

I really enjoyed trying out this new brand. If you have any questions leave them below in the comment box. Don't forget to listen to the music below...."The meanings behind the polish" and.......ROCK OUT!

Hello and Welcome!!!!

The winter storms are rolling in here where I'm from and it's not fun at all. I sure do miss the sunshine. Luckily I took advantage of the 1 day of sun we did have and took some photos of some pretties Philly Loves Lacquer sent me to review. Today I am writing about the "Shopping Madness" polishes and "It's Always Sunny". At the moment all the polishes are available for purchase unless stated other wise on her website. Lets check out some photos below.

That Barbie is MINE!
This is a girly pink scattered holo. I applied 2 light coats with top coat. This polish seemed a bit thick so I added some thinner to it, no biggie. I also did a girly stamp of Barbie over it.

"2am Coffee Run"
This is a deep and dark brown scattered holo. I applied 2 light coats with a top coat. This polish is thick but no to thick. I also used it to stamp with and it applied beautifully.

"I Bleed Sales!"
This is a bright red scattered holo. I applied 2 light coats with a top coat.

"It's Always Sunny"
This is a holographic top coat. I applied 1 coat over a variety of colors to show you an idea of what it looks like. This is a beautiful top coat that sure will make your nails pop and shine in the sunlight. To me it looks best over Gold, Blue and Dark Green.

Overall these polishes applied nicely and I really enjoyed the colors. Experimenting with them was fun as well.Have you snatched up any of these beauties yet?

Daphine Polish/What Sorcery is This? Collection

Hello and Welcome!

Today I have a beautiful collection made by Daphine Polish to show you. This collection is called: What Sorcery is This? This collection is inspired by mythical sorceresses and spirits that are associated with evil or black magic. These pastel shades below reflects the ever changing faces of these mythical women. Sounds exciting...yes? I have a bit of information describing each polish and what the names were inspired by,or who I should say. This collection will be available January 24, 2014 at 8pm EST. Lets take a look below!

"Melusine"
Melusine was a water spirit with the body of a serpent or fish from the waist down, similar to a mermaid. Her legend originated in Poitou and the Low Countries of Europe. The most famous version of the tale says that she was cursed to take the form of a mermaid or serpent from the waist down every Saturday. She married a mortal man, Raymond of Poitou, giving him the condition that he could never enter her chambers on Saturdays. When he broke this promise and saw her in her half serpent form, she fled, never to be seen again.
"Melusine"
This is a lovely mint green polish with gold shimmer. I applied 3 light coats with top coat. The formula of this is amazing. Every application went on real smooth.

"Hecate"
An ancient Greek goddess, Hecate was variously associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, necromancy, and sorcery. She was often portrayed in triple form, and was in later writings described as having three heads: dog, serpent, and horse. Shrines to Hecate were set at the entrances to homes and cities which were supposed to protect the people from spirits and the restless dead. Today, Hecate is often the patron goddess of many Wiccans due to her three faces, like the concept of the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone.
"Hecate"
This is a buttery yellow polish with red shimmer. I applied 3 light coats with a top coat. The formula is amazing. I usually don't wear yellows but since it is a pastel I think I might have pulled it off. It is such a beautiful and soft color.

"Ceridwen"
Ceridwen is an enchantress in Welsh medieval folklore. According to legend, Ceridwen had a hideously ugly son who she sought to make wise. She made a boy, Gwion Bach, stir the potion needed to accomplish this task but he accidentally received the gift of wisdom meant for her son. Ceridwen chased him, changing into many forms during the length of the chase, and as a hen devoured him in the form of a piece of corn. Ceridwen became pregnant, and knew that it was Gwion being reborn inside her. She planned to kill him, but he was born so beautiful that she could not bring herself to do so. Many modern Pagans regard her as the Celtic goddess of rebirth, transformation, and inspiration.
"Ceridwen"
This is a cotton candy pink polish with gold and pink sparks and green shimmer. This is one of my favorites out of this collection. In a way, with the pink sparks, this color reminds me of a strawberry milkshake. Ohhhh How I have craving one now. LOL I applied 3 light coats with a top coat. Of course the formula is amazing and a breeze to apply.

"Nimue"
Nimue is also known as the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legend, specifically named as such in Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur. In his tale she gives King Arthur his sword Excalibur. She learns her magic from Merlin, whom she later enchants and traps. With Merlin incapacitated, Nimue replaces him as King Arthur's advisor. After Arthur was wounded at the Battle of Carmlann, Nimue is one of the four queens that bear his body to Avalon.
"Nimue"
This is a grey-blue polish with blue shimmer and gold sparks. I applied 3 light coats with a top coat. The formula? Amazing!!! This is another one of my favorite colors out of the collection. It is just gorgeous!!!

"Baba Yaga"
Baba Yaga is a witch in Slavic folklore, who is depicted as a as a deformed and ferocious-looking elderly woman. She is associated with the mortar and pestle, She lives deep in the forest and is associated with forest wildlife. She often appears to mortals as an ambiguous character, equally likely to help or hinder those who seek her aid. In old Russian, baba can mean midwife, sorceress, or fortune teller.
"Baba Yaga"
This is a grey based polish with a strong purple shimmer and silver sparks. I applied 3 light coats with a top coat. This is a lovely color. I can say that I do not have a color like this in my collection. This is truly a unique color.

Overall this collection is perfection. I love what it represents and I love the pastel colors. I think pastel colors are going be huge this year. The formula is amazing. I can't find anything wrong with this collection at all. My 2 favorite colors out of this collection are "Nimue" and "Ceridwen". Which were your favorites?
