Today I have a collection of lacquers made by Jodie of Down the Bayou Lacquer. The collection is called, "It's Christmas Time in the City" based on events that has happened in New Orleans. I have never been to New Orleans but I was invited by a friend back in High School to go to  Mardi Gras but regretfully I declined. One day I will go to New Orleans, maybe not for Mardi Gras but just to visit and enjoy the Cajun food.The"It's Christmas Time in the City"collection has 5 beautiful holiday lacquers.This collection is now available for purchase. "Snow Covered Street Cars"

Snow here in the Deep South is a rare thing, but every once in a while we are blessed with the sight captured in this photograph. This shot of a New Orleans streetcar, also known by the New Orleans natives as trolleys, was the total inspiration for this golden shimmer topper.The trolley’s golden yellow light, as it shines through the snowy haze,inspired the golden tones, while the dark green and red trim resembles the specks of glittery holiday delight.

"Snow Covered Street Cars"

This is a shimmery golden base with green,white and red glitter in various sizes. I applied 3 coats with a top coat. This is a very unique color that has a golden shift. I have not tried this BUT I think this would look gorgeous over a color like red or a light blue or maybe even a light purple color. Now that I think of it, I'm going to have to try it out. I don't know why I get these ideas in the middle of typing up the review LOL Maybe I will do 1 coat of "Snow Covered Street Cars" over a light purple. Hmmmmmm.

"Jingle,Jingle Mr. Bingle"

Maison Blanche Department store was first opened on Canal Street in New Orleans in the 1950’s by a German immigrant. The stores name, in French, means White House. The French language and German owner is just one of many examples of the melting pot of traditions that make up the area of Southern Louisiana. The department store began a tradition known as Mr. Bingle. Mr. Bingle was a precious, fun, fictional character that natives came to know as Santa’s helper. The snowman became the mascot of the department store and still remains a part of the pop culture at Christmas time in New Orleans. The fun nature of Mr. Bingle inspired this shimmery winter color.

"Jingle,Jingle Mr. Bingle"

This is a baby blue shimmer polish with various color and shaped glitter. I applied 2 light coats. For more opaqueness I recommend 3 coats. This seems to apply a bit streaky. I did let Jodi know and she will be adjusting that.

"Celebration in the Oaks"

One of the most spectacular events in the country, the Celebration in the Oaks, is held in New Orleans City Park. Thousands of twinkling white lights decorate the city park’s naturally beautiful landscape of oaks and moss covered cypress trees. The event leaves no part of New Orleans tradition uncovered, with many special Christmas displays and unique blends of flavor found only among a Cajun cuisine. With the mild winters of Louisiana, this outdoor event is a perfect family outing during the Christmas season.

"Celebration in the Oaks"

This is a Jungle green shimmer base with silver and gold glitter in various shapes. This polish was not streaky at all and is in fact a two coater. I am a sucker for some greens. I seem to have collected almost every shade of green there is with the exception of this one. This will be my first Jungle green with added glitter. Wahoo!!!!

"Bonfires on the Levee"

Long ago, before the levee systems down the Mississippi River existed the massive waterway was used as transportation. The many canals off the river were dark, making it difficult for Cajuns to find their homes late into the night. Huge bonfires were lit to guide these families home safely. Once the levees and roadways were built, there was less need for the great flames. Now tradition has it that the bonfires are needed to guide the way for good Ole Papa Noel. Still lit every Christmas Eve on the levee of southern Louisiana, the bonfires gold and red flames inspired this beautiful topper.

"Bonfires on the Levee"

This is a beautiful yet unique glitter topper. This has a mixture of red and gold and white glitter with a mixture of micro holo-goodness. I applied 1 coat of "Bonfires on the Levee" over 2 coats of Pure Ice/Envy. Perfect combo."Bonfires on the Levee" can also be worn solo. If only the sun was out when I was trying this beauty on I could of shown you how much it sparkles :(

                               

                     "Caroling in Jackson Square"

The sounds of caroling are in the air on the last Sunday night before Christmas Day at the St. Louis Cathedral. Located in the heart of the French Quarter, the amazing church draws in locals and visitors alike to join in the singing of Christmas Carols by candle light. This event, occurring every year for 58 years now, inspired this polish of traditional Christmas colors.

"Caroling in Jackson Square"

This is a light pea green base with various color and shaped glitters. I applied 2 light coats with a top coat.

MOD Lacquer LLC Review

 Today I have some beautiful polish made by MOD Lacquer. "Jersey Devil"

This is a sheer black jelly with warm toned glitter in various sizes. I applied 1 coat of SinfulColors/Black on Black with 1 light coat of Jersey Devil over it. This polish can be worn on its own. I recommend 2 to 3 coats. I love my black jelly polishes. I was not a fan about 4 months ago but once I tried them on...OMG I just wanted more. I used a top coat to get a smooth shiny finish and matte top coat for a different effect.This polish is apart of the Cryptid Collection.This can be purchased in full size or mini.

"Goblin"

This is a deep green duo-chrome that shifts from dark green to olive green to a light brown. This also has scattered holo glitter added to the formula to give it a nice sparkle. As you can see when in sunlight it really sparkles beautifully. I like this color with one coat but it was not completely opaque so I applied 2 light coats. In my opinion I can see more brown tones when I applied 1 coat. When I applied 2 coats I saw more green than brown.This polish is apart of the Cryptid Collection.This can be purchased in full size or mini.

"Paranormal Paradise"

This is a beautiful glitter topper full of multi-colored holographic glitter in various sizes. I applied 1 coat of Paranormal Paradise over 2 coats of Julep/Winter. This glitter topper really sparkles and shines unfortunately my pictures didn't do this polish justice. I can't get enough of the multi-colored circular glitters they are my absolute favorite.I did not have to fish for the circular glitters they actually came out with one swipe.This can be purchased in full size or mini.

Daphine Polish/Holiday Collection

Having a great week? I hope so! If you are following me on Facebook you may of read that I had chipped my nail. Well...I had to file all my nails down, WAY down . LOL This is the first time this has happened to me since I have been swatching polish.I am thankful I was able to save what nails I had. It could have been worse. On a brighter note I had the privilege of trying out Daphine Polish's new Holiday Collection and I tell you this, when swatching her new collection I didn't even care about my nail fiasco anymore. This collection looks amazing and more amazing on my nails.This collection has 5 glitter toppers and 5 holos. The Holiday Collection will be available in the shop on November 28th, Thanksgiving Day! "Rudolph's Nose"

This has Red metallic, matte, and holographic glitters with green iridescent glitter in a clear base.Shiny and bright just like Rudolph’s nose, this glitter topper could light the way anywhere. I applied 1 coat of this beautiful glitter topper over 1 coat of Essie/Good as Gold. You can't go wrong with combining gold with red during the Holidays, it's perfect!

"Golden Ring"

This is a bright golden yellow polish with subtle scatter holographic effect.This polish represents the gold rings from the 5th day of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. I applied 2 light coats. This polish has tiny particles in it that felt bumpy after it dried BUT I let Joanne know and she is going to be mixing the released batches differently to prevent the bumps other than that this polish is GORGEOUS! It's the most beautiful golden yellow holographic polish I have ever seen.

"Christmas in a Bottle"

This polish has green and red matte glitter, gold holographic glitter, silver holographic micro glitter, and gold holo stars in a clear base.It’s pretty much exactly what it says it is - Christmas, in a bottle! All you need to complete the scene is the smell of pine and presents under a tree. I applied 1 coat of Christmas in a Bottle over 2 coats of Julep/Laura. I picked Julep/Laura because I was going for the Christmas tree look. It's the perfect green and with "Christmas in a Bottle" added over it, it looks like a perfectly decorated Christmas tree.

"Poinsettia"

This is a red loose linear holographic polish. The Poinsettia is a bright red flower has been associated with the Christmas season since the 16th century.I think Joanne of Daphine Polish did a great job with perfectly matching this color to the Poinsettia. It's flawless. I applied 2 light coats.

"Rosina Violet"

This has multitudes of pink glitters with pink shimmer in a clear base. Violets are hardy plants that produce flowers even in winter. The Rosina violet is a lovely delicate pink flower, reminiscent of the glitters found in this polish. I applied 1 coat of "Rosina Violet" over 2 coats of SinfulColors/Go Glossy.

"Midnight Snowfall"

This is a royal blue linear holographic polish. Joanne of Daphine Polish says..."While I can’t say I’ve seen this in the city, at home in the suburbs when it is snowing at night and you look out the window, the world is a dark black and blue glimmery wonderland". I applied 2 light coats. This is truly a nice color to be worn during the winter holidays.

"Frosty"

This glitter topper has many shapes of white glitters with iridescent hexes, squares and bars in a clear base.

I love how this polish looks just like snow on my nails!!! I am in love with this look and dreaded taking this off :( I applied 1 coat of "Frosty" over 1 coat of SinfulColors/Why Not. Dosn't this look sooooooo gorgeous?!? Who wouldn't want Frosty in a bottle?

"Bahplumbug"

This is a lovely purple linear holographic polish. Naming contest winner came up with this name. I think the name fits in perfectly with Daphine Polish's Holiday collection. Lovely name and very clever. I applied 2 light coats.

"Skating"

This is a glitter tipper with metallic, matte, and holographic blue glitter, metallic silver glitter, and silver holographic diamonds with gold shimmer in a clear base.

Joanne of Daphine Polish says...."Having worked several holiday seasons in retail, I am not a big fan of Christmas music (being forced to listen to five different versions of Feliz Navidad for six weeks straight is not healthy for even a Christmas music lover). The soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas is always on in the background at my annual Christmas get togethers my high school friends and I have, and it’s the only holiday music I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of. “Skating” is a lovely little instrumental from the soundtrack, and it makes me think of a clear ice blue pond with dainty figure skaters dashing about". I applied 1 coat of "Skating" over 1 coat of Julep/Julianna...the perfect combo if you ask me.

"Blue Spruce"

This is a forest green loose linear holographic polish. I applied 2 light coats. This green is one I don't have but I will be constantly using it. It is unique and I can't get enough of this color. It reminds me of pine trees.

Joanne says....."I know, it’s a green polish with “Blue” in it’s name. But this polish was named after the type of pine tree that is often used as a Christmas tree. It’s also a reference to one of my favorite movies, “While You Were Sleeping”. As Sandra Bullock attempts to haul a Christmas tree up the side of her apartment building she exclaims “I should have gotten the blue spruce, they’re lighter.”

Overall I find this Holiday Collection to be absolutely wondrous and perfectly fitting for this winter holiday season. If this collection does not put you in the holiday spirit I really don't know what will. Follow Daphine Polish below. What did you think of this collection??
